How did it all begin? What drove you to start the business?

I’ve always been passionate about singing, music and cinema, but always wondered how I could make any serious money out of a career in the arts. Believing it too difficult, and after a many years of exams, auditions and competitions – I decided to step back for about 10 years and work as a freelance stage manager in musical theatre. I’ve had an amazing career in that time, living in multiple countries and working on some of the world’s most prestigious events including calling shows for the Rugby League World Cup, the Medal Ceremonies of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, managing the opening show of a billion dollar state-of-the-art venue in New York, show calling the BBC Proms, touring the world, and working with some of the world’s most renowned artists. I realised though, as great as this all was, I sorely started to miss making music and using my own voice. I wanted to figure out if there was a way to combine my passion for singing and film music to help creators in the industry. I noticed also that not much was commercially available for people to have easy access to vocalists. The gap in the market was there, but not much was being done about it. Thus, Viking Vocals, was born.

What does your business do?
Viking Vocals is an online cinematic vocals library that provides composers and creators in the music, film, and gaming industries easy access to high quality, niche cinematic vocals for their projects. Each individual “pack” we sell contains hundreds of different royalty free vocal samples in a particular style that our clients can drag and drop into their creative projects. It also grants them the license to use and edit them in anyway they wish and distribute their music commercially. Each sample comes as both already “done for you” and completely raw, giving the client the option to edit as little or as much as they want, depending on their skill set and the requirements of their project.

What are you personally passionate about the most? What motivates or drives you?
As the business grows, I want us to be the place our customers come to when they want easy access to some of the word’s best cinematic vocalists, but don’t necessarily have the budget or know-how to hire professional singers on their own. In this ever-changing landscape of AI, it is extremely important to me to continue to champion human vocal talent and support singers who have spent their lives dedicated to perfecting their craft.
