I’m Jan du Toit, South African who planned a three year stint in the UK, and I’m in my 15th year of it. I’ve always loved travel, and the culture and people around Corporate Travel grabbed me and has never let go.
Where are you located?
Personally in London, trading internationally.
What does your business do?
1000 Mile Travel is anything travel related, if a business or individual spends between 50K to 2million a year, I manage it for them. It includes the operational side by booking flights, hotels, car hire and visas, to offering a 24/7 emergency assist line for peace of mind. It’s also offering data capture and reporting on all travel, overseeing an online tool if required, and anything else travel-related.
How did it all begin? What drive you to start the business?
I’ve worked with some large travel partners, and with the move to more online and AI-oriented travel programs, I realised there there was still quite a demand for more-personal travel managers. For many, business travel is a complex and stressful part of their business, where they would prefer dealing directly with an expert, and have a friendly face to speak to. I took the opportunity when it presented, and I’ve been loving it ever since.
What are you personally passionate about the most? What motivates or drives you?
I love working with people and problem-solving. Travel is such a uniquely challenging thing that no two days are the same, and working closely with good people is what keeps me constantly entertained.
Who is your ideal customer?
Anyone who spends over 50K on travel annually really, and would prefer a more human element to their travel management. I’ve had 20+ years in the industry and can bring value to any travel program, while also reducing the mental load by taking over all of the operational side.
What type of business owners would you like to connect with?
Anyone who has a travel program they would like managed. I’m more than happy to have a conversation and see if there’s value to it for you.
