Hey everyone, Mathew here. I’m a software developer, business owner, and founder of Techshift Digital, based in Nottinghamshire. I started my career as an apprentice developer and have somehow ended up spending more than a decade building software, leading projects, solving technical problems and helping businesses make sense of systems that have become messy, manual or difficult to manage. My main background is in PHP, Laravel, SaaS platforms, internal systems, integrations, and project recovery. In plain English, I help businesses build, improve, or untangle the software they rely on. I’m at my best when I can get stuck into how a business actually works behind the scenes, understand the problems properly, and then build something that makes the day-to-day easier.

I am personally based in Nottinghamshire, the business trades all across the UK.

Techshift Digital Ltd is a UK-based software development company specialising in Laravel, PHP, SaaS platforms, custom web applications, business systems, integrations, and automation.
We help businesses design, build, improve, and maintain software that supports real operational needs.

Our main strength is understanding the business process behind the software. We do not just build screens and features. We look at how the business works, where the bottlenecks are, and how software can make the process more stable, scalable, and easier to manage.
How did it all begin? What drive you to start the business?
Techshift started from a mix of ambition, frustration, and probably a bit of stubbornness. I started out as an apprentice developer and worked my way up from there, so I have seen software from a lot of different angles. I have been the person fixing the bugs, building the features, supporting the users, managing the projects, and trying to make sense of systems that have grown complicated over time. What drove me to start the business was noticing how often companies were being held back by the software and processes around them. Not because the business was broken, but because the systems had become messy, manual, outdated, or difficult to change. I kept seeing situations where a business needed more than a quick fix. They needed someone to properly understand the problem and help build something that would last. I started Techshift alongside my full-time career, working on projects in the evenings and weekends, learning the business side as I went, and gradually building it into something more serious. The aim has always been to create a software company that is practical, honest, and useful. We help businesses build, improve, rescue, and maintain the systems they rely on, especially where off-the-shelf tools are not quite enough.
What are you personally passionate about the most? What motivates or drives you?
What drives me most is helping people make sense of technology and use it properly.
Software, IT, automation, and AI are becoming bigger parts of how businesses operate, but for a lot of business owners it can feel overwhelming, confusing, or full of jargon. I’m passionate about making that world feel less daunting.
I enjoy taking technical ideas and breaking them down into plain English, then helping businesses understand what is actually useful for them and what is just noise. Not every business needs the latest trend or the most complicated system. Sometimes they just need the right tools, built properly, explained clearly, and used in a way that genuinely supports how they work.
What motivates me is seeing a business go from feeling stuck, frustrated, or unsure about their systems to feeling more confident, organised, and in control. I want Techshift to help businesses use technology to their advantage, rather than feel left behind by it.

Our ideal clients are business owners, directors, operations managers, agencies, or internal teams who rely on software to run part of their business.
